Approved Ski Schools

Book Lessons with a BASI Approved Ski School?

In some countries like France and Italy, snowsports is a regulated industry and the requirements for operating and running a ski school are laid down in law. There are many countries, including the UK, where snowsports is not regulated and so there are no legal requirements in place on who can run a ski school or teach snowsports.  To this end, BASI operates the 'BASI Approved Ski School Quality Assurance Programme' so that the general public can easily identify ski schools that have been BASI approved and meet high standards in areas of safety, instructor recruitment, customer enjoyment and learning.

Step 1 - Please read through the below Application Guidelines and assess whether your operation is ready to apply.

Step 2 - Complete the application form below and return to: The BASI Approved Ski School Coordinator, BASI, Morlich House, 17 The Square, Grantown on Spey, PH26 3HG or email to applications@basi.org.uk

Step 3 – Submit your evidence dossier and arrange an inspection visit date with the BASI Office.

Note -BASI Approved LOtC Status

BASI works in partnership with Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee (AAIAC), who are approved to inspect against Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) and LOtC provider criteria. An LOtC inspection is an optional, additional aspect of the BASI Approved Ski School QA inspection; saving time and the need for a further inspection visit. Should an applicant wish to apply for LOtC status through BASI’s Approved Ski School QA Programme, this should be indicated on the application form.  Applicants' should note that the LOtC application requires details of all other activities offered, and that the approval visit will include additional aspects of inspection (see Guidelines - Appendix 3 for further information).
